We have had a wonderful summer thus far and look forward to many more wonderful days. John and I gained 2 gorgeous nieces this summer and we are excited to meet them, Paisley and Sophie!
As every small business has their struggles we too have ours. Brides have less money to spend these days and that means we have less to spend as well. This does not take away from our well groomed horses and great customer service. We are feeling growing pains and wondering if we should make the leap and purchase a wedding carriage even though there is a slow down in the wedding business. While we roll this around we have decided to slash prices for a limited time on 2011 weddings using our formal wagonette. One event that we find ourselves anxiously awaiting for the 3rd year in a row is the Cowan Trail and Wagon Ride in Cowan, Manitoba located near Swan River, Manitoba. We enjoy attending this event and giving wagon rides to young and old in the heart of wildlife country. In the past we have been lucky enough to see moose, bear, elk, wolves and even a lynx! They are plain black leather, hand sewn and turned out really nice. They may decide to raffle them off, do a chinese auction or something, they have plenty of time to figure that out yet! We hope whomever gets the bridles, enjoys them!

Getting Started!
Hello World!
We here at Doubletree Carriage are going to attempt another way to communicate with the world so that you know what we are up to even if at times we are unsure of what is really going on.
A little background: we started the carriage biz venture on our own back in 2008 and have steadily been growing and learning as we go along. We try to do many things with our horses from driving them in town and in the country, riding at various state parks, logging, farm work, giving private rides and commercial rides, we have even worked cattle with them! Doing all of these different types of activities with our horses makes them well rounded individuals and keeps them happy with their jobs.
This year, 2011 we decided to add to the carriage biz by offering big horse tack for sale and we have begun to make some custom tack for the horse world. You will read more about this later as we update our website at www.doubletreecarriagecompany.com and soon at www.bighorsetack.net We also offer for sale driving horse collars, harness, used saddles (new in the future?), bits, bridles and can custom make various leather goods for you. Our offerings will change on a fairly regular schedule.
If you are looking for some wedding planning advice, you have also come to the right place as we will be offering some advice over the next few weeks as the 'busy' season begins! We are currently taking bookings for the 2011/2012 winter season and are looking for area businesses that are interested in offering sleigh or wagon rides! Give us a call and we will what we can come up with. Golf courses with bar/grill/restaurant; this is a great way to bring in added business. Most of our guests travel 3 hours on average to enjoy a ride with our wonderful horses! 507-459-3546
